Drawing and Painting Major

LCAD'southward Fine Arts section provides entering students an immersive curriculum that offers a robust learning experience in representational drawing, painting and sculpture with an emphasis placed on academic figuration that serves as a jumping off point. Aslope the building of skills, our courses encourage experimentation with materials and exploration of individual ideas and motivations to augment student's visual linguistic communication, culminating in the development of a body of work that is authentic to each artist.

Students entering senior yr are provided a private studio space to piece of work for the entirety of their final year, where they are mentored individually and engage in disquisitional discourse with their peers and distinguished guests. The Fine Arts department offers a BFA in Drawing and Painting, in add-on to an Emphasis in Analogy and an Emphasis in Sculpture.

Figurative Sculpture Emphasis

Our undergraduate Sculpture Accent gives students the skills to produce ¼ life-size to awe-inspiring sculptures that convey gimmicky narrative themes. Our Sculpture curriculum is based in classical techniques and prepares students to enter the competitive field of sculpture by gaining commissions, exhibiting as gallery artists, obtaining public grants, and/or branching out into the entertainment and special effects industries.

Illustration Emphasis

The Drawing + Painting with Illustration Accent zeroes in on the art globe found at the intersection of fine arts and illustration to prepare y'all to piece of work in both traditional and mixed media arts. The program's curriculum will hone imaginative narratives with pattern-based aesthetics for commercial and not-commercial applications.

Through both skill building and professional studies curriculum, this emphasis will allow you to take advantage of the representational training of the Drawing + Painting major. You lot also will gain experience in exhibition, branding, and entrepreneurial skills that will help you to succeed equally an independent artist working in a visual style that reflects Imaginative Realism, Pop Surrealism, and mural arts.

Atelier Scholarship

LCAD is where high value is placed on timeless skills. All LCAD Approved Atelier students admitted to LCAD's BFA programs in Drawing & Painting are guaranteed at to the lowest degree $30,000 in scholarships. *Corporeality based on 4-year caste track, a minimum 2.0 GPA and enrolled in at to the lowest degree ix units each semester. 12 units of transfers are accepted of atelier preparation based on contact hours.
